What is a Vertebral Subluxation?
A misaligned vertebra of the spinal column which causes nerve pressure or irritation, and therefore interference with the transmission of Innate Intelligence - the body's inborn intelligence which is responsible for the organisation, maintenance and healing of the body..
What is an Adjustment?
It is the process of correcting a subluxation.
How do you adjust a subluxation?
With my hands.
A Chiropractic adjustment is a safe, specific and controlled, corrective force. No drugs, no surgery.
Does it hurt?
No.
An adjustment is usually painless. Sometimes there may be some discomfort afterwards, but that is often an indication that your body is making a change.
What is the "cracking" noise?
Air.
When a joint is moved beyond a certain range-of-motion it accumulates pressure and releases it as gas. The "pop" or "crack" you hear is the sound of pressure being released - the same thing happens when you open a can of soda. It is often heard during an adjustment, though it means nothing.
What will I feel afterwards?
Ask your body.
Everybody reacts differently. It depends on what your body needs to do. You may feel more energy, better sleep, less pain, more movement, better concentration, better digestion, less menstrual problems (more common in women). But you may experience nothing you can "feel" at all - like better lung or kidney function. Your Nervous System controls everything!
Many people often feel very light and free immediately after an adjustment as their body is reconnecting to their nervous system.
Who can be adjusted?
Everyone.
I have adjusted newborn babies and people over 90-years-old. I have adjusted pregnant ladies and people with quadriplegia. If you have a spine and a Nervous System, you can be adjusted.
I don't feel anything wrong. How do I know if I am subluxated?
You probably don't.
Can you "feel" when your liver or kidneys are not functioning at 100%? No! Symptoms are usually the later indications of dis-ease. It is best to get checked to avoid reaching that point.
Remember, your Nervous System controls everything in your body - sleep, memory, vision, hearing, etc. Pain is just one indication that something is not right.
I have "this" condition. Can I still have Chiropractic?
Yes.
There are many different ways to adjust a subluxation. Some techniques are so gentle that a Chiropractor could adjust a sleeping baby and it would not wake up, and there are other techniques that use more force. A Chiropractor decides which is technique appropriate for each person.
How does my spine become subluxated?
Physical, chemical and emotional stresses.
I.e. The stresses involved with living, including: physical trauma, bad posture, poor diet, chemical, caffeine nicotine, alcohol, anxiety, depression, tension, etc.
Where did you learn this?
University.
I studied for 5 years and completed 2 diplomas. Chiropractors study subjects like: anatomy, physiology, pathology, orthopaedics, radiology, neuro-anatomy and many, many more.
